Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Messrs K N Eyre & HLR Hunter

We were glad to have with us again, Mr A Tear who was making good progress after an operation & to hear that Mr J W R Fox was also keeping well

Minutes of last ordinary meeting approved

Correspondence A letter was read from Mr H P Moore of Sittingbourne Kent submitting his resignation for the Society owing to change of circumstances & enclosing £1 subscription

Mr Moore has been a keen member & generous subscriber since joining in 1966 7 it was agreed that we should keep in touch by sending continuing to send him schedules & annual reports. The secretary had already sent a letter thanking him for his support.

Also a letter from Mrs V C Wallace Wright our member in New Zealand who was intending to visit the UK in April & wishing to know the bet time to see tulips. The secretary had replied giving the required information & inviting her to visit our shows if at all possible

Also a letter from Mr C A Hawkes our member in Hertfordshire reporting the sale of old English tulip bulbs which he had organised at a meeting of the Southern Section of the Auricula & Primula

Society & which had aroused a lot of interest

Our thanks & appreciation were expressed to Mr Hawkes

It was agreed that the dates of the two shows should be provisionally fixed for 6th May at the Horse & Jockey Altofts & 20th May for the 136th Annual Show, at the Duke of York Hotel Sandal.

It was also agreed that the schedules should remain as before that we should ask Mr F Smith to judge the Darwin classes at both shows

Mr J Burton to judge the English at the annual show & that we should invite the Mayor of Wakefield to open the annual show

The secretary was asked to bring the raffle tickets and blank posters to the next meeting in three weeks’ time & also the slides of tulips which would be projected. Suitable coloured slides would be selected for making into colour prints

A raffle for chocolates donated by Mr Hardman realised 75p
