An apology for absence was received from Mr G. Hunt
The minutes of the last ordinary meeting held 18th June 1962 were read & confirmed.
Correspondence was read from Mr & Mrs W.G.
Elliott of Halifax informing us of the death on 23rd of February 1963 of Mr J.W. Midgley of Halifax also thanking us for
se our letter of sympathy & floral tribute.
Mr Midgley had been connected with the
Wakefield & North of England Tulip Society for over 60 years & was greatly respected by all.
A letter was read from the secretary, Horbury
Conservative Club confirming that we could have the use of their room for our early show.
A letter was read from Mr Rory McEwan accepting our invitation for him to become a
Patron of the Society & enclosing a cheque for £5.
Mr Akers reported that the St John’s Terrace
WM Club would again be available for our late show & I should receive written confirmation in due course.
The insurance of the Society’s trophies was discussed & it was decided to leave this matter to the President.
Show Judges. The appointment of Judge for the English classes was deferred until the next meeting
Proposed Mr Eyre, seconded Mr Hardman that Mr F
Smith of Altofts be asked to judge the Dutch classes.
The show dates to be fixed at the next meeting in five weeks time, 22nd April.
