The minutes of the previous meeting held 16th May 1960 were read & confirmed.

Correspondence. A letter was received from Dr T.M.B.

Bedford enclosing 5/- subscription for 1960.

Correspondence was received from Messrs Barr & Wallace enclosing price lists of Tulips & Daffodils, these were distributed to members present.

A letter was received from Messrs J Parker bulb dealers, regretting they could not yet send their 1960 wholesale catalogue as it was still at the printers, but sending a 1959 copy from which to choose our orders & promising a 1960 copy when available.

It was decided to wait for the new catalogue before ordering & the secretary was asked to call a meeting immediately on its arrival.

The secretary read a financial statement of the two annual shows showing a profit of approx.

£4-10-6 on the Altofts Show & a loss of approximately £8-0-6 on the Thornes Show, an overall loss of £3-10-0.

It was proposed by Mr J Akers & seconded by Mr E.H. Robinson that the show report be accepted.

Mr A Tear proposed & Mr J Akers seconded the £1-1-0 should be sent the to the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Altofts for their childrens treat fund.

The president handed over a cheque for £3-3-0 from

Mr L.H. Skirrow of Leeds who opened the Thornes show.

New members. The following were admitted new members to the society.

Mr L. Rogerson, 8, Water Lane, Middlestown, Yorks, proposed by Mr E.H. Robinson, Seconded by Mr J.W. Prest.

Mr J.D. Hudson, 18, Ruskin Avenue, Bradford Road, Wakefield, proposed Mr W. Markham, seconded by Mr H.V. Calvert.

Mr R.D. Wood, 79, Waterton Road, Lupset Wakefield, proposed by Mr A.T. Meens, seconded by Mr H.V. Calvert.

Mr R. Hunt, 45 Jenkin Road Horbury, proposed Mr J. Akers, seconded by Mr F.R. Hunter.

Mr J Akers very generously proposed to give these new members 20 bulbs of Old English Florists Tulips to start off their collection & it was suggested that their sponsors should also supply a few bulbs. too.

Matters regarding the show schedules were raised & it was decided to discuss the matter fully at the next meeting.

A raffle realised 14/-
