Matters arising
The AGM had decided to award an extra goblet for the Dutch show. This was ordered.
Mr Hardman had written to Mr Maurice Evans and the problem had been sorted out
Correspondence
The secretary reported that an enormous amount had been dealt with. The further article on the florist tulip had resulted in another flush of enquiries. Miss Anna Pavard had joined the society. The Insurance had been paid. Several letters had reported on the progress of the small parcel of bulbs.
The Dutch Show
The village hall was booked for 9th May 1992. Mr Frank Smith had agreed to judge. A formal letter to be sent to him with a schedule.
the secretary and treasurer would unfortunately be away at a Management Conference in York and asked for help from officers and committee. All the details of this show were discussed including placing an advert with the local press. The hall would be open at 9am staging 10-12 open to public 2:00pm — 5
Refreshments would be provided. Raffle prizes welcome.
Annual Show
After some discussion of a date to hold a meeting to decide on a date for the Annual Show Mr W Tear proposed and Mrs W Akers seconded that we chose the date at this meeting. Reasons were that it was unlikely than any other persons would be present at such a meeting and it would simply delay the booking of a suitable hall, which could prove difficulty since Holmfield House no longer available.
Halls likely to be available were Community Centre — Normanton Ossett Town Hall Primrose Hall Horbury Queens Hall Wakefield Unity Hall ” (Minor Hall)
It was decided that entries should be completed by 12 that judging from 12-2.30 thus opening to the public at 2.30 rather than 4.30 or later as in the past.
This will give more time for visitors to look at the flowers We need to appoint a judge for the English Florist — at a later committee meeting
A.O. Business
Newsletter had a good number of contributions. Mr. M. Hainsworth was invited to review "Who do you Grow! By Mrs Pankhurst and Mrs.W. Akers "Tulips" by Stanley Killinghall. Mr K Eyre requested to write something about Lord Cochrane of Cults if possible, since he had sadly recently died. We had also lost Mr Jimmy Long, a long standing member in America.
Mr Tear and Mr Hayward were visiting Holland and the Floriade and hoped to meet Mr Victor Roozen.
Miss Jane Eyre had taken up work at Hardwicke Hall and Moved to Stainsby near Chesterfield.
