book1907_220The 93rd Annual Show was held in the
Brunswick Hotel Wakefield on Sat May
25th 1929. Two notable absentees were
Mr C W Needham the president who was
detained in Holland while inspecting some
Tulip trials: and Mr J W Bentley who was
away on business. The prospects for the Show
had been very poor, the weather being particularly
unfavourable; however the Show was a thorough
success and was attended by a large number of
visitors. We were favoured by the Presense (sic) of
the Mayor of Wakefield Ald Hardy
Richards JP who opened the Show

Book1907_221during the course of the opening a wish
was expressed that Ald Richards be
asked to open it again 7 years hence at the
Centenary – a wish that received the
approval of all present. The full list
of winners will be found in the copy taken
from the Wakefield Express.
