Minutes of 145^th AGM were read and approved.

Annual Reports The balance sheet had been sent to members a few days before the meeting

~~for a~~ The Secretary gave a short explanation of the balance sheet also reported that this year that it had been very quite as for as the society the membership had risen by 8 members. the chairman thanked the Secretary for the reports this was seconded by S Knowles.

A.O.B. J.L. Akers proposed that prize money should be given for Class 8 Needham Memorial Cup for a stand of 12 Rectified English Tulips (all dissimilar) second by J Akers After a brief discussion WD Tear. proposed amendment that this year it should remain ~~the~~ as in previouse years. second by J Hardman

a vote was taken and the amendment carried.

C Harrison proposed that the prize money at the annual show should be increased. The meeting then discussed that 50% increase was in order. this was second by D Guest

J N Gibson proposed that a vote of thanks to the out going chairman for all the hard efforts he as done over the past 4/5 years. Mr Harrison thanked the members for their support over the years he had been chairman.

WD Tear asked if it wsa time to ~~XXX~~ award a gold medal again. members felt that the cost of a medal would be too costly but will review the matter at a latter date.

S Knowles asked if the members of the society had any thought on having an emblem or badge of the society in the form of a tulip

The cost of the DIE CASTING £42.00 + VAT at 15% Add a charge of 45p per badge for 250 lots with the

2 colours and gilting. The ~~members~~ meeting discussed the matter and the cost of 1 badge would work out at a 80p each. the matter was left over.

The meeting Closed at 8.25pm followed by another meeting

* J Seed Proposed that the Honoraria should be increased.

The meet ~~for~~ agreed to increased the secretary to £10.

Treasurer asked that ~~the~~ £3 to remain. This was carried.

Minutes of the last ordinary meeting were read and approved

Matters Arising — none

Correspondence A letter was read for our patron J M Perkins stating that he wish to sponsor class 1 with the prize money also did we wish to have a spade or fork for the FK Perkins prize or a gift from the shop.

The meeting felt that if there was a choice the left to the prize winner.

A letter was read from Ruth Duthie asking if we had any records of the Royal National Tulip Soc.

and could any member supply the date of the founding of the Society. Mr J Akers said that the RHS should be able to supply the information.

The Secretary told the meeting that the lady was a very knowledgeable about florist flowers at would have been the odvious source first.

Show Date The meeting was in aggreement that the show should be held on the 15^th May 1982

Judges It was agreed that 3 members should make a team Mr p Emmett proposed that J Akers J G Hardman at WD Tear should judge this 2^nd by J a Akers

C Harrison agreed to judge the Dutch.

Opener The Secretary reported that Mr Jack Wood of the Garden News was willing to open the show subject to the Editor’s approval.

This was left to the Secretary to arrange the opener.

Schedule The show schedule was run through to see if any ~~different~~ alteration need making

It was agreed to delete class 5a the Society Class

Mr J Akers said that in class 8 the words all dissimilar should be deleted but members felt that it should re main. The Secretary was asked to look back in the old minutes to find it the words were just added or there had been a minute p????

Mr J. L. Akers asked if ~~know~~ no prize money is to be given to class 8 could the points be points be 6,4,2. Mr Jim Akers ~~she~~ said that 6,4,2 had always been given

~~the~~ to the class. The Secretary pointed out for the last 15 years or more only 3,2,1 had bee given. The meeting aggred to award double points to class 8 and also 19 the Novice Class as before, the rest 3,2,1

Venue The Secretary reported that the room at Holmfield house was available on the 15^th may at a cost of £3.10 per hours. it was agreed that the room should be booked for 10hours 11.0am to 9.00pm.

Raffle Many members offered raffle prizes. tickets will be given out next meeting.

Posters Wendy Akers offered to make some posters for the show.

Vases J.L.Akers offered to collect the vases for Frank Smith

Next Meeting The secretary prposed that the next meeting should be on 3^rd May and that the slides of the English Tulips Show for the benefit of the newer members.

as this falls on the bank Holiday some members were against but the main body of the meeting

~~the~~ approved. Mrs Wendy Akers offered to provide a light refreshment. R Laughlin offered the use of his slide projector.

The meeting closed at 9.15 pm
