Present, Mr F.R. Hunter president, Messrs J Akers,

A.T. Meens & H.V. Calvert, secretary.

The minutes of the two ordinary meetings held 10th July & 2nd October 1961 were read & confirmed.

Correspondence was read from Mr A. Tear apologising for absence & telling us that Mr & Mrs White of the

Horse & Jockey Hotel at Altofts were willing for us to have our early show there any week-end. Mr Tear suggested that we should avoid Rugby League Cup Final date & would provide a prize for the raffle.

Mr Akers reported having a letter from Mr Midgley, who had been ill & unable to attend, & from Mr Rory McEvan who was giving an exhibition of flower paintings including old English Tulips & would like us to send him some flowers at the appropriate time. Mr Akers suggested the flowers should be selected at the late show

& sent direct to Mr McEwen, subject to members approval.

It was agreed to have two shows as usual this year, the first at the Horse & Jockey, Altofts(date next meeting)

The venue for the main show was discussed,

& Mr Akers reported the great success of the

Normanton Chrysanthem show which was held at

St John’s Terrace W.M. Club, Normanton. The secretary was instructed to write asking the Club committee to receive a deputation from our Society with a view to arranging to have our main show there on 26th May.

A raffle realised 9/- & the next meeting was fixed for Monday 16th April.
