Correspondence was read from Garden News, Home Gardener & Go Shell, advising us that our shows would be advertised in their publications.
A letter was read from the Wakefield Flower Club, regretting that they could not stage a display of flower arrangements at our show this A year because of other commitments.
After discussion it was agreed that because of the recent very cold weather the show dates would have to be revised. It was proposed by Mr Tear & seconded by Mr Eyre that the
Altofts show should be put back from the 7th to the 21st of May provided it was convenient to the Landlord of the Horse & Jockey Inn, & that the Annual show should stay as previously arranged, the 14th May.
The secretary contacted the Mr Bradley, landlord of the Horse & Jockey by phone, who confirmed that his room was free for the 21st of May.
The secretary raised a point regarding the length of stems of English florists tulips exhibited singly in bottles. It was decided that 6" inches of stem was long enough & that the flower should rest on the neck of the bottle.
Mr R Hunt raised a point about the official reception of the Mayoral Party at the Annual Show & it was agreed that in the absence of the President, the chairman Mr J Akers sho would receive the Mayoral Party & conduct them round the Show.
