The minutes of the last meeting were read
& confirmed.
An apology for absence was received from the president Mr F.R. Hunter who also sent a recommendation that we should have an official opener at future annual shows. This was supported by Mr R Hunt & approved by members present.
The secretary reported that he had sent letters of appreciation to members to the Belle Vue &
Sandal Allotment Association, to the Wakefield
Flower Club & the proprietors of the Duke of York
Hotel for their support & to Mr F Smith for judging the Darwin classes at the Annual Show
Show Report. The Chairman Mr Akers remarked that we had learned a lot at the annual show.
The attendance was exceptionally good, as the £2-0-6 door money showed, but the sale of raffle tickets was overlooked until it was too late. It was agreed that the show was in the nature of an
ist experiment & that we should do much better next year.
The secretary presented a financial statement, which showed a net profit of 19-4 on the Altofts show & a net loss of £13-14-3 on the Annual show. The report was accepted.
The secretary wishes to record some very good seedings of Florists tulip raised by Mr J Akers & exhibited by him at the annual show.
It is to be hoped that these will be increased & distributed in due course & registered wh with the International Registration Authority to be included in the Classified list of Tulip names.
There was some discussion about raffle prizes initiated by Mr R. Hunt, & it was agreed that the seller of a winning ticket should collect the prize for the winner.
The secretary was asked to send for bulb catalogues to de Jagers & Bloms & to call a meeting to discuss the purchase of bulbs the 3rd week in August.
A Raffle for chocolate donated by Mr J Hardman & eggs donated by the President realised 9/-.
