There was an apology from Mr J. Ward for unavoidable absence.
The minutes of the last meeting were read & confirmed.
Mr S. Knowles reported he was unable to get a judge from the Barnsley Parks Dept. & it was agreed that we should have Mr J Burton, if available, for the Altofts show, & Mr Burton & N.H. Eyre at the Annual Show. Mr A. Tear & Mrs H. Townsend volunteered to accompany the judge for the Dutch classes & Messrs S. Knowles & J Hardman to accompany the Judge for the English classes.
it was proposed Mr W.D. Tear & seconded by Mr A. Tear that the Altopts show be held Saturday & Sunday 23rd & 24th May, & proposed Mr Tear, seconded Mr C Heptinstall that the 134th Annual Show be held at the Duke of York Hotel Saturday 30th May.
It was agreed that The Mayor of Wakefield be invited to officially open the Annual Show.
It was proposed by Mr W.D. Tear that we should apply for the R.H.S. Banksian Medal & proposed by Mr N.H. Eyre that it should be awarded for the best exhibit in the Show, Mr Eyre later withdrew the proposition & substituted one to conform to the R.H.S ruling which specifies that the medal should be awarded to the winner of the largest amount of prize money in all classes at the show. (This resolution needs confirmation).
It was agreed to fix details of raffle prizes etc at the next meeting to be held in three weeks time i.e. Tuesday 5th May.
A raffle for chocolates donated by Mr J. Hardman realised 18/-.
