The minutes of the last ordinary meeting held

14th June 1965 were read & confirmed.

All matters arising were included in the agenda.

Show business:

It was agreed that the early show should be at Altofts on the 7th May the secretary to write the landlord Mr S Backley Bradley for conformation.

It was agreed that Mr F. Smith of Altofts be asked to judge again at the Dutch Classes.

After discussion it was agreed to hold the annual show either the 14th or 21st May, the actual date to be discussed at the next meeting. In the meantime the secretary was to write to the landlord of the Duke of York

Hotel, Agbrigg asking him to reserve his upstairs room for one of these dates.

It was resolved that the Wakefield

Flower Club should be invited to stage a display of Flower Arrangement as last year.

The secretary was asked to write to Mr Hunter & ask if he would find an official opener for the Annual Show, & to tell him that

Mr Akers would call on him as soon as convenient.

It was agreed that John Smiths Brewery should be approached regarding a donation to the Society, that schedules & information should be sent to the appropriate press & the Shell Co. to include our shows in their pamphlet "Go Shell"

The secretary again stressed the need to recruit more new members & proposed that

an entry forms should be printed, which he would pay for, outlining the benefits to which members are entitled. These are (a), to exhibit in all tulip classes at the annual show,

(b) to purchase at a reasonable price, bulbs of old English florist’s tulips,

(c) to purchase through the society, bulbs from other sources, either at wholesale price or at a discount & (d) to free advice on all matters regarding culture & exhibiting.

The proposal was approved.

Because of confusion over the price of 2d each being printed on last years supply of raffle tickets the secretary was instructed to purchase 2000 more, all one colour & with no price printed on.

A raffle for chocolates donated by Mr J. Hardman realised 12/-

The meeting closed at 8-0 P.M & the next meeting was fixed for 2 weeks time March 21st.
