Obituary Before the meeting commenced the members stood in silent tribute to Mr E. H. Robinson who passed away at his son’s home on the 12th of February

Mr Robinson, who had held the offices of secretary,

Chairman & Vice President during his 40 years association with the society was highly respected

The minutes of the last meeting were read

& confirmed. All matters arising were dealt with in correspondence.

A letter was read from the President of the

Belle Vue & Sandal Allotment Association in which he said they would be glad to support our annual show & accepted the secretary’s suggestion to show them coloured slides of florists tulips. The secretary reported that he went to their A.G.M & had arranged to show the slides in the Allotment Society’s hut on Tuesday 23rd of Mrch at 7-30 PM.

A letter was read from The Wakefield Flower

Club saying that they would be pleased to stage a non-competitive display of flower arrangements at our annual show & asking us to give them some idea of the space available

&also the general lay-out of the show.

It was decided to hold the next meeting at the Duke of York Hotel so that some arrangement could be worked out.

A letter was read from Mr A. Simmonds, West

Clandon, Guildford, Surrey, asking for details of membership of the W & N of England Tulip Society

& for a copy of the show schedule.

The secretary reported that details had been sent as requested. Mr A Simmonds, O.B.E, M.C,

V.M.H, is a Vice-President of the R.H.S

Narcissus & Tulip Committee & it was felt that he would be a great asset to us if we could get him to join our society. The secretary promised to write to him again when sending the new schedules.

A letter was read from the Secretary R.H.S.

thanking us for information about certain tulip names & assuring is that he would place our objection to the re-classification of florists tulips before the Registration

Authority. Mr R Hunt voiced his opinion that we should continue to object at every available oportunity. This was agreed.

Show raffles. It was agreed that all members be asked to dispose of tickets for the Altofts show & that tickets for the raffle at the annual show should be sold at the Duke of York Hotel, details to be arranged out at our next meeting.

The secretary was instructed to order 2000 tickets

A raffle for chocolate donated by Mr J Akers realised 9/-.

The next meeting to be held on Monday 29th March 7-0 PM. at the Duke of York Hotel.
