The Wakefield Express show report gave the number of blooms as over 1,000 though no names were mentioned. It was suggested that William Mellor grew his blooms in Kirkthorpe. Giving a little background to other events in Wakefield the Leeds Times also reported on the Annual Gala at Stanley Royd Asylum, about half a mile away.
