The reporter at this show for the Wakefield Express certainly waxed lyrical about the reasons why the Society had existed for so long. What would he have made of the fact that in 2015 we have added another 23 years to that length. One of his reasons for that success, keeping the membership local, certainly doesn’t apply today. Many members still would consider themselves ‘members of the working class’ but would he still be listening to the ‘remarks of men with horny hands and toil stained faces‘?
